Add something a little extra to your dinner table with these buttermilk orange scented rolls

These Buttermilk Orange Rolls are a must. The rolls have a hint of orange in them and that is what makes them so yummy. I served these on Easter and they made a great compliment to the meal.

They are great served with pork or turkey. They also make a great sandwich roll. I made a pork sandwich with my leftover pork tenderloin I made for Easter and it was delicious!

Bread, yeast bread or quick bread it doesn’t matter, I love bread! I could literally eat a whole loaf myself, I don’t, but I could. The smell of fresh baked bread, MMMMMMM, I have no other words. Fresh baked bread sends me to my happy place; it is just so darn good!

These rolls are super simple to make. If you have a bread machine just throw all the ingredients into it and turn it on.

If no bread machine, no problem, there is no kneading involved. Now don’t get me wrong, I do love my bread machine and there is nothing wrong with using it. For me, it all depends on my mood and the amount of time I have if I decide to use it or not.

Sometimes I don’t use either one and I do it all by hand. Kneading the dough for me is very relaxing, kind of like pulling weeds relaxes me, lol. And there is something nostalgic about using your hands.

My son Jamison, who is 3 1/2, helped me make these. He loves to measure, pour, and turn the mixer to the highest setting before the flour is mixed in, YIKES!! I should have taken a picture of my floor, it looked like it snowed in my kitchen!

When my kids help me cook or bake it does take twice as long and can cause me to lose my patience but I am realizing how important it is to take the time to teach them kitchen skills.  My hope is one day they will be able to make me a whole meal while I sit on the couch and relax. Could that be possible?!

Go make these rolls and get ready for your kitchen to smell delicious!

Author Allison

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 Cups buttermilk, warmed to 100-110 F
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 3 tsp grated orange rind
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 Cups all purpose flour
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Combine first 3 ingredients in bowl of an electric mixer. Sprinkle yeast over milk mixture and let stand 5 minutes or until bubbly.

  2. Stir in butter, orange rind, and salt.

  3. Add flour to yeast mixture; mix on low speed with a dough hook until a soft, elastic dough forms (about 5 minutes). The dough should not stick to the sides of the bowl, if it does add more flour a little at a time until it no longer sticks.
