You might have memories of your childhood helping a family member or a friend in the kitchen. You may recall the fun you had, the happiness it created and the excitement of eating something you made. The Cook with your Kids Challenge will help in making these memories for your kids as well.

The challenge is to cook with your kids at least once a week. It can be a quick snack, part of a meal, or the entire meal.

Kids learn with all of their senses: touching, tasting, seeing, feeling, and listening. Cooking is a great way to stimulate them and keep them engaged.

Things Kids Will Learn or Improve While in The Kitchen

  • math skills
  • science
  • where their food comes from (not the grocery store but the farm)
  • improve fine and gross motor skills through cutting, stirring, pouring, measuring, etc…
  • reading
  • following directions

This is a great opportunity to have them try new foods. When we prepare our own food we are more likely to eat it even if we have never had the ingredient. This is great if you have picky eaters. You may no longer hear “I don’t like it,” even if they have never tried it. Does this sound familiar? I think this must be a favorite saying amongst kids.

The purpose of this challenge is to encourage spending time together creating warm, happy memories, encouraging healthful eating choices, and to teach them a life skill.

Grab the Challenge below!  You will receive a chart to write your recipes, a planning calendar and 11 recipes. These recipes are suited for all ages and different skill levels. They are all approved by my 3 1/2 year old. He not only eats them but he helps to make them.
