Have you hopped on the meal planning train yet? If you have, then you know how it is a definite must to save money and time. If you aren’t quite into meal planning yet I hope I can get you started.

Some people meal plan weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Knowing what you are going to make each day of the week will help you have a little bit of control over how your day will go and will make meal time less stressful.

Benefits of Meal Planning

  • Save Money: No longer waste groceries by buying items you think you might use. Also, you can see what is on sale and plan accordingly.
  • Save Time: You will no longer be going to the grocery store multiple times a week and you will spend less time in the store because you will have a plan before you go.
  • It’s Healthier: When you plan your meals you will eat healthier. If you have a plan there is no need to go to the drive thru.
  • It Makes You Feel Good: Not just because you are eating healthier but because you are doing something important for your family. They will thank you for it.

How To Meal Plan

If you are new to meal planning I suggest start off with weekly planning (the is what I do), it’s not overwhelming.

  1. Look at the grocery ads and see what is on sale. You may want to go to more than one store to get a good deal.
  2. Print out the meal planning template and shopping list.
  3. Look through your recipes and write down what you will eat on which days. As you plan each day write down what you need on your shopping list
  4. Go shopping!!

Here are a few recipes to get you started with your meal plan:

Chicken Broccoli and Blueberry Salad

Garlic Lemon Thyme Chicken and Vegetables

Chicken and Mushroom Stuffed Acorn Squash

Meals Your Family Will Love

When you are done meal planning you can hang the weeks meals on the fridge so everyone will know what to look forward to!

I created two different types of meal planner and shopping list. I wanted to give you a variety and hope that one of the layouts will work for you.

Are you a veteran or a newbie meal planner? Let me know what you use to meal plan. Please share in the comments.

I love meal planning. Well, really I do not but I love the outcome of it. No rushing trying to figure out what is for dinner, no wasted money, and better food.
